Minimally invasive surgery using a small camera and instruments to diagnose and treat problems inside the ankle—aimed at reducing pain, improving motion, and speeding recovery.

• Impingement (pinching pain at the front or back of the ankle)
• Loose bodies, scar tissue, or synovitis (inflamed lining)

• Chronic swelling or stiffness after sprains or fractures

Through two or three tiny incisions, we insert a camera to see inside the joint and use pencil-thin tools to remove scar tissue or loose fragments, smooth rough cartilage, and address inflamed tissue. Because the incisions are small and soft tissues are spared, many patients experience less pain and a faster return to activity than with open surgery.

• Before: Exam and imaging (X-ray/MRI) to confirm that arthroscopy is the right approach; pre-op instructions reviewed.
• During (outpatient): Ankle is numbed and you’re sedated; procedure typically 30–60+ minutes depending on findings.
• After: Protective dressing and early ankle motion as directed. You’ll leave the same day with clear instructions for weight-bearing, icing, elevation, and a follow-up visit.

• Many resume desk work and light activity in 1–2 weeks.
• Progressive rehab restores motion, balance, and strength over 4–8+ weeks, depending on what was treated.
• Athletes return to running and cutting once swelling is down, strength is back, and sport-specific drills are pain-free.

• Temporary swelling, stiffness, or numbness near the incisions is common.
• Less common risks include infection, blood clots, nerve irritation, or persistent pain if cartilage damage is advanced.
• Results depend on rehab participation and any underlying arthritis or instability—we’ll tailor a plan to your goals.
