• During: Exam + imaging as needed; immediate support (brace/boot/cast) and pain/swelling plan.
• After: Clear instructions on weight bearing, icing/elevation, and when to start gentle motion. Follow-up to progress protection and begin rehab.

• Mild sprains: often 1–3 weeks to baseline activities.
• Moderate sprains: 3–6 weeks with structured rehab.
• Fractures: variable—typically 6–8 weeks of protection, then strengthening.
• Balance and strength work lowers the risk of re-sprain.

• Untreated sprains can lead to chronic instability or cartilage wear.
• Fractures need protection to avoid displacement or delayed healing.
